SAPA PUBLIC HEARING

Scranton/Dunmore/Abingtons Comprehensive Plan

The Governing Bodies of the eleven Scranton-Abingtons Planning Association (SAPA) communities held a Joint Public Hearing, the Final joint meeting for accepting public comment on the SAPA Comprehensive Plan on:
Wed., September 23, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 pm,
at the Clarks Summit Fire Company, 321 Bedford St., Clarks Summit, PA.

The Sept 23 Hearing invited comments on the Draft Plan from residents, business owners, and officials. Verbal and/or written comments were also welcome.

A Comprehensive Plan includes general land use; transportation; environmental protection; housing; historic preservation; parks, recreation and open space; and community facilities and utilities. The meeting facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.

Public Information Meetings

Three (3) Public Information Meetings were held throughout the planning process.

The first Public Meeting was held to provide an opportunity for the public and current committee members to hear an overview of SAPA's Comprehensive Plan. The meeting included project displays and a presentation depicting the timeline of the project and information regarding recent data collection activities, mapping of current conditions and an overview of possible future conditions.

The second Public Meeting was held to discuss the future of the eleven-municipality area, share information and gather public comments about the direction of the Comprehensive Plan.

The SAPA Committee has explored a set of ideas for the area’s future and is developing a framework for future growth, open space conservation, and resource protection. The second meeting was an opportunity for residents and business owners to provide ideas and opinions about the future they want for their communities.

The third Public Meeting was held to present the final version of the Draft Comprehensive Plan for public review.
