Public Information Meetings

Three (3) Public Information Meetings will be held throughout the planning process.

The first Public Meeting was held to provide an opportunity for the public and current committee members to hear an overview of SAPA's Comprehensive Plan. The meeting included project displays and a presentation depicting the timeline of the project and information regarding recent data collection activities, mapping of current conditions and an overview of possible future conditions.

The second meeting, scheduled on October 23, 2007, will discuss the future of the eleven-municipality area, share information and gather public comments about the direction of the Comprehensive Plan.

The SAPA Committee has explored a set of ideas for the area’s future and is developing a framework for future growth, open space conservation, and resource protection. The October 23rd meeting is an opportunity for residents and business owners to provide ideas and opinions about the future they want for their communities.

The third public meeting will occur at the end of the planning process where the public will have an opportunity to review the a draft version of the final Comprehensive Plan document.

The Scranton-Abingtons Planning Association (SAPA) will hold its second public meeting to share information for the Comprehensive Plan document.

(Providence Rd & Munchak Way), Scranton, PA:

From Scranton's Hill Section or Downtown:

1. Drive North on Rt 11 (Mulberry St.). As you approach the northern end of downtown, stay in your RIGHT LANE.

2. Staying on Mulberry St., pass Penn Ave and and Franklin Ave, then get in FAR RIGHT LANE as you approach the light at the bridge. You'll see signs for Providence Rd.

3. At the light at the bridge, go STRAIGHT across the bridge, and IMMEDIATELY BEAR RIGHT onto the PROVIDENCE RD EXIT. At the end of the exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto PROVIDENCE RD..

4. You'll see the buildings of the Scranton High School immediately on your left . (Red brick and concrete buildings, with curved roofs, and blue and yellow trim). Just past the buildings, turn LEFT at the light. (This is 63 Munchak Way).

5. You are now in the parking area of the High School.

6. After parking, go to the lobby/auditorium entrance, which is at the left part of the red brick building with dome-shaped roof.

From the Abingtons:

1. Drive South on Route 11, through Chinchilla/South Abington Twp. Pass Amore restaurant and drive through "the Notch".

2. Continue on 11 South. After passing the Keyser Ave. and Main Ave exits, take the PROVIDENCE RD EXIT.

3. At the end of the exit ramp, turn LEFT onto PROVIDENCE RD. Go through the underpass.

4. The buildings of the Scranton High School will be on your left . (Red brick and concrete buildings, with curved roofs, and blue and yellow trim). Just past the buildings, turn LEFT at the light. (This is 63 Munchak Way).

5. You are now in the parking area of the High School.

6. After parking, go to the lobby/auditorium entrance, which is at the left part of the red brick building with dome-shaped roof.

All officials and public are WELCOME to the meetings! The planning consultants from McCormick Taylor will be joining us for this important meeting to discuss the first written draft of the Comprehensive Plan.

Directions to the Clarks Summit Fire Company:

From south of Clarks Summit, Take Rt. 11 North.

(Rt. 11 is State St in Clarks Summit. To get to Rt. 11, some people will use the northernmost (Clarks Summit) exit of 476 --- or exit 194 off 81. Then immediately follow signs for Rt 11N, Clarks Summit.)

• On Rt. 11 North, you'll see the "Borough of Clarks Summit" tall sign on the right (in the park, next to Dunkin Donuts).
• Get into the LEFT LANE.
• At the light at the top of the hill is W. Grove St (Ohora Eye Care is there). Turn LEFT here, onto W. Grove.
• After two blocks, cross a bridge, then immediately turn RIGHT onto Bedford St. (High-rise apartments are at this corner.)
• Pass the high-rise apartments, and you can see the flags of the CS Fire Company a couple doors down.
• The most convenient parking will likely be to the right of the Fire Co. building, but there may be parking on the other side. Enter double doors on right-hand side of Fire Co building.
